Chronic Lyme

Tick-borne infections are increasing globally – Lyme disease is among the most prevalent vector-borne diseases in the US and Europe and is reaching levels of an epidemic. This most widely known tick-borne disease is caused by Borrelia bacteria. Besides Lyme, most ticks also transfer a number of coinfections. Epidemiologic studies demonstrate that 30-50% of Lyme patients go on to develop a multi-symptom disorder resembling, and often indistinguishable from, fibromyalgia and/or chronic fatigue. Chronic Lyme disease exhibits a variety of symptoms that may also be confused with immune and inflammatory disorders.

ME/CFS

Myalgic Encephalomyelitis or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) is a complex, chronic multi-system disease that can present itself in the form of an array of symptoms that may change over time and differ from patient to patient. The most common symptoms of ME/CFS are post-exertional malaise (fatigue after physical/mental effort), unrefreshing sleep (still tired after waking up in the morning), profound fatigue (feeling very tired without cause), cognitive impairment (brain fog, memory loss), chronic intestinal issues, orthostatic intolerance (dizziness when getting up), and pain (mainly in muscles and joints).

Post COVID-19

While the world has been grappling with the effects of the COVID-19 outbreak for some time now, the medical world is already being confronted with infected people developing chronic symptoms. Amongst these patients, doctors are observing a wide variety of symptoms, including neurological, fatigue and cardiac symptoms. These symptoms appear to be related to an inflammatory process and exhibit similarities with ME/CFS symptoms. These observations are in line with studies of similar viral outbreaks, like SARS and MERS, which suggest that a significant percentage of infected patients develop ME/CFS or Fibromyalgia.

Auto-Immune

Auto-immune disease is a condition in which your immune system mistakenly attacks your body. Normally the immune system can distinguish foreign cells from one’s own cells. However, in a body suffering from auto-immune disease, the immune system erroneously identifies some of its body’s own components as foreign, causing it to respond to healthy cells as well. Symptoms of many auto-immune diseases include: fatigue, achy muscles, swelling and redness, low-grade fever, trouble concentrating, intestinal issues, numbness/tingling in the hands and feet, hair loss and skin problems.

Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition marked by pain throughout the body’s connective tissue, tendons and/or muscles. These symptoms caused it to also be known as ‘soft tissue rheumatoid arthritis’. Patients with fibromyalgia can also suffer from chronic fatigue, stiffness, sleep disorders, concentration disorders, sensitivity to temperature, chronic intestinal issues, joint pain and numbness or tingling.

General Detox

Even if you are not suffering from one of the multi-system diseases mentioned on our website, you might feel that your body is suffering from stress, poor diet, lack of exercise, toxins or other stressors. These stressors can cause low-grade inflammation throughout your body, weaken your immune system and may eventually make you sick if left unattended. By regularly detoxing your body and paying attention to a healthy lifestyle, you help ensure that your body keeps performing at its best! Furthermore, detoxing can help relieve the small aches experienced in your daily life.
